Fantastic performance by the backup quarterback, everything you want from that position. Macbeth had a terrific first half, enough to get the win. His arm strength definitely popped, especially on a couple of deep passes to Worthy and he never made a drastic mistake in the second half. Well done but no QB controversy here, reader. Loved seeing Pipkin flash in the short yardage role against his former team.
A nongame for the crew this week. Foster and White both run hard, punishing DBs who are stationary at the moment of contact, but they never got on track today. More will be needed as being able to put together some time-consuming drives is a necessary skill for a winning club.
DAMION JEANPIERE! What a performance by a last second addition to the gameday roster due to injuries. He led the team with 91 yards and had a game clinching catch at the end of the 4th. The depth of the WR position just is unbelievable, with DJ and Gittens Jr and a huge performance from deep threat, Chandler Worthy.
Mixed bag tonight. Great pass protection generally but not much movement running the ball and short yardage was an adventure. But the Montreal pass rush was held in check and the line did what was asked of them. The holding penalty late in the 4th was almost deadly though.
This game is an oddity. The defense had by far their worst game statistically. Montreal dominated time of possession and had over 500 yards in offense. But the line was able to make plays when needed such as The CN Power, Shawn Oakman with a huge 4 point saving sack. Stanback ran at will but this unit has been devastated by injuries and they gritted out tonight
Another injury beaten unit who gave up a lot of yards but did enough to score the win. The screen game killed them early and Stanback was unstoppable, but they were able to get a win missing starters. McCoil played well.
No pick 6, but we did get two picks and a forced fumble from a unit that was all over the place. The unit looked a little lost at times, possibly a result of new plays/philosophies coming in with Coach Jones. The zone work looked really soft and in need of more communication, but the man coverage was still great. Montreal racked up over 300 yards passing but Chris Edwards had a huge pick and Shaq had his best game of the season. The final Montreal drive was brutal.
An early Chandler Worthy fumble was disappointing, but he made up for it with some good returns, one that he almost broke for a score, it is coming. Bede had his best game as an Argo – 3 for 3 on field goals and a strong punting game. Special shout out to Josh Hagerty who had a standout game as a gunner on punt, he had textbook lane discipline and a solid wrap of the returner.
A clean-shaven Dinwiddie! He and the staff stole a victory tonight. The backups were ready to play and that is a tribute to a good coaching staff. The Jones era is a work in progress, but a win is a win.
